Building a sustainable nonprofit requires more than effective fundraising – it requires a culture in which everyone understands their role in advancing the mission and strengthening the organization’s financial future.

This interactive session explores how to build a culture of philanthropy that engages leadership, staff, board members, and volunteers in cultivating relationships, demonstrating impact, and supporting sustainability.

Participants will also consider how emerging trends – including changing donor expectations, generational wealth transfer, AI, and revenue diversification – can inform a more adaptive and future-ready approach to development.

Learning Objectives

Following this session, you’ll be able to:

  • Describe the principles of a culture of philanthropy and how it supports mission impact and financial sustainability.
  • Identify ways to engage leadership, staff, board members, and volunteers in shared responsibility for philanthropy and development.
  • Assess opportunities to strengthen organizational culture and adapt development strategies to emerging trends and revenue opportunities.
