The Foundation for United Methodist Communications generates funds to inform, inspire and engage the people of God. Our work seeks to strengthen The United Methodist Church and its communications ministries throughout the world, and to communicate the message of Jesus Christ in a spirit of Open Hearts, Open Minds and Open Doors. We focus on fostering and supporting communication, public relations, and promotional needs of The United Methodist Church through communication functions, projects, programs and activities of United Methodist Communications, the global marketing and communications agency of The United Methodist Church.

Service Scope


Primary Programs / Work Done By Organization

The Foundation for United Methodist Communications is organized for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of IRS Section 501(c)(3) established under the GCFA Group Ruling in lieu of a separate exemption for the Foundation. Its goals are to enhance the ability of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Communications to tell their story to the world through the various media of communication. It understands its mission to be a natural expression of the Gospel message, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.” (Mark 16:15). The Foundation intends to be involved in research and development of appropriate programs for the church and to propose technological innovation that will facilitate the church’s mission. It will also seek to enlist committed persons who will provide financial and technical support for the various programs of United Methodist Communications.

Expected Annual Board Member Contribution Range

$1000 – $5000

Estimated Monthly Time Commitment, Including Routine Meetings

10 hours/month for fundraising activities, major donor cultivation and communication with Foundation staff. Board meetings expected to occur quarterly starting in 2024, with at least one in-person meeting.
