Overview

Successful nonprofit organizations must develop and utilize dynamic fundraising strategies that are able to not only withstand economic volatility but also work in conjunction with changing trends in the philanthropic sector and the influence of a growing community of social entrepreneurs. With tremendous pressure to show results to funders, it is also imperative that programming is evaluated and adapted on a continuous basis. This course is designed for individuals seeking a comprehensive understanding of the process of fundraising and resource development in nonprofit organizations.

This course was formerly numbered as NPO 230. It has been changed to better reflect the content level and intended audience.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, you will be able to:
  • Describe the roles of executive leadership, board, and program staff in resource development.
  • Create the framework of a resource-development plan.
  • Explain the fundamentals of prospect identification and research.
