Overview

Events make up a critical part of most nonprofits’ fundraising programs. Events are a tremendous way to mobilize existing supporters and attract new donors. Importantly, they can have great impact on the community’s awareness and understanding of the organization, and events help define and promote the organization’s brand.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Delineate essential roles and responsibilities for successful event planning and management.
  • Explain key elements of securing and stewarding event sponsors and other major event donors.
  • Give examples of effective event marketing.

Audience

Whether staff, volunteer, or board member, if you are new to nonprofits or new to fundraising, this series of classes is for you! The individual courses in the Certificate of Fundraising Essentials are at the 100 (introductory) level and designed for people looking for the fundamentals of primary revenue sources and of managing successful fundraising and development operations.

For intermediate/advanced coursework on these topics, please check out our additional Fundraising and Development certificates and courses in our Course Catalog.
