About Jim

Jim Neal is GCN’s Director of Consulting. He is an experienced nonprofit consultant and executive with expertise in strategy development and the art of linking strategy to operations. Over a 25-year career, Jim has worked extensively in strategic planning, strategy execution, business planning and budgeting, organization assessment and alignment, and performance improvement. He is an experienced facilitator of board-level strategy for both public sector agencies and nonprofit organizations.

In addition to his consulting experience, Jim spent five years as director of operations for Friends of Refugees, a nonprofit serving 3,000 refugees and immigrants annually. He has also served nonprofits as a board member, board treasurer, and board chair. Jim holds an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business, where he was a Shermet Scholar.
