Yesterday, your generosity, kindness and support showed how the state can Come Together to strengthen our communities by donating on Georgia Gives Day. Nonprofit organizations motivated Georgia’s donors to open their hearts to the tune of $3.9 million, topping last year’s record-breaking amount.
This year’s theme is “Come Together.” Not only does it evoke one of our favorite Beatles songs, it captures the spirit of what Georgia Gives Day is all about – a message that has never been as resonant as in this election year. What better way to counter the polarization of a heated political race than evoking the positivity, and the possibilities, generated by Georgians rallying en masse to support the work and worth of nonprofits?
From Georgia Nonprofit NOW Summer 2016:
We are excited to present our fifth annual Georgia Gives Day on Thursday, November 17, 2016. Join our online giving movement, fueled by a growing collaboration of nonprofits, companies, foundations, media outlets, and government partners, which has contributed $9.2 million so far to our state’s nonprofits. Start planning now to take full advantage of this unique opportunity to activate your cause champions, expand your circle of supporters, and join your sector colleagues in raising awareness of the many missions that are collectively making our state a better place to live, work, and play.
Four years ago, the Georgia Center for Nonprofits launched an ambitious start-up: Georgia Gives Day, an online giving platform created to spark a statewide giving movement, mobilizing organizations, businesses, government agencies, and citizens to raise awareness and support for our communities’ nonprofits. Today, we can celebrate how far we have come, working together in the spirit of this year’s theme, “For the Greater Good.”
