Serving on a nonprofit board presents unique challenges and requires a different skillset from those encountered in your professional career. GCN’s team of experts invite those serving on or working with nonprofit boards to join us for this lively crash course on the fundamentals of nonprofit board service. Our discussion will cover basic legal and fiduciary responsibilities, key annual obligations, expectations around fundraising, roles and responsibilities, and the latest trends and challenges facing nonprofit boards.

Topics Covered

  • Board member job description and expectations
  • Legal responsibilities, including duty of care, duty of loyalty, and duty of obedience
  • Fiduciary role and the basics of nonprofit finance
  • Board fundraising and contribution expectations
  • Trends in boards

This session is for Board Members & Staff who work with Boards of GCN member organizations. Member dues must be current when the session takes place to receive access.

Want to register a board member who doesn’t have an account? There are two ways:

• Ask them to create an account linked to your organization. (Need Help?)
