Deep Dive: Grant Writing Workshop

Overview

Get a comprehensive overview and targeted practice in grant writing with this immersive, full-day learning experience. You’ll get up-to-speed on all the fundamentals, best practices, and processes to follow while developing your in-progress project. Hands-on activities, including small-group breakout sessions and self-paced exercises, will give you experience in answering funders’ most-asked questions, developing an effective budget, identifying partners, and more.

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped with the skills to write compelling narratives that not only win awards, but make for powerful, persuasive fundraising conversations.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, you’ll be able to:

• Understand the grant application process, from reading grant documents to program
  development, writing, and peer reviews.
• Craft narratives and storytelling assets that lead to winning proposals, including compelling grant budgets a 5-minute fundraising pitch.
• Lead an assessment of funding needs and identify the rationale for addressing them.
• Identify grant opportunities, find partners, and respond to funders’ most common and critical questions.
• Assess organizational capability and develop strategies to implement the project plan, per grant
  guidelines, by aligning your internal resources.

Nonprofit professionals of all experience levels will benefit from this training, including new-to-nonprofit leaders, executive leadership, program personnel, grant writers, and board members. This course serves as a continuum of learning for anyone who has attended GCN’s Certificate of Grant Writing Fundamentals or Fundraising Essentials series.
