Nonprofits that want to evaluate risk, opportunities, and options need a structured method to make decisions and move forward with confidence – especially organizations experiencing funding shifts, leadership transitions, growth pressures, program overlap, or persistent deficits.

This fast-paced, practical workshop is designed to help boards and leadership teams see the full range of paths available to your organization – strengthen and scale, restructure, reinvent, collaborate, partner, merge, transfer programs or assets, and responsible exit/collaborate/partner/ally, asset transfer, merger, and responsible exit – and choose the right moves to make next.

What you can expect

• Context: Understand today’s funding, policy, and demand landscape, and what it means for nonprofit operating models.
• Assessment model: Learn a simple, evidence-based way to gauge financial health, operational capacity, and readiness.
• Options continuum: Review, understand, and compare a range of strategic options
• Case studies: Real examples of successful restructures, reinventions, partnerships, mergers, and responsible exits.
• Decision clarity: Guiding questions to help focus and prioritize strategic options for your organization

This workshop is free for all nonprofits, but team participation is strongly recommended. An ideal team includes the executive leader, board chair (or governance/finance chair), finance lead, and a program/operations lead. Counsel may join for model/LOI questions.

Optional next steps

This workshop is the first part of our three-step Nonprofit Sustainability & Strategic Options  program. Participants may opt to take one or both of the next two steps:

• Completing the Assessment Package, providing strategic clarity; objective, confidential guidance; and a second workshop to align your team around the best option for preserving your mission.
• Joining the Strategic Options Cohort aligned with your most promising path forward, each consisting of four cohort sessions designed to foster team alignment, confident decisions, and bold action.
