Grantmakers

CURE Childhood Cancer awarded $5 million in grants for the 2022-2023 fiscal year, including $2.2 million invested locally.

South Arts announced $1.3 million in grants for more than 17 arts institutions across the South, including True Colors Theatre, to encourage growth in the arts and their impact on surrounding communities.

Nonprofits

Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia received funding from Elevance Health Foundation as part of an initiative to reduce preterm births among Black women.

Agnes Scott College received a $744,191 grant from NASA to continue its support of women STEM graduates.

▼ Habitat for Humanity – North Georgia commenced the construction of a 14-home project in Forsyth County with a groundbreaking ceremony.

To mark 40 years of service, North Fulton Community Charities was honored by Roswell Mayor Wilson at a celebratory event attended by approximately 300 people.

HomeAid Atlanta completed its seventh Care Day of the year at the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence, providing savings of nearly $8,500. Additionally, the organization recently finished a new 28,000 square-foot facility at the Gateway Domestic Violence Center in Gainesville, adding 55 beds.

Among the Atlanta area nonprofits awarded grants in the latest round of awards from Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta were Canopy Atlanta ($75,000) and Quality Care for Children ($1,000).

▼ Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta held their Annual Graduation Celebration at Georgia State University, honoring 34 high school seniors, almost 90 percent of whom are on track for pursuing higher education or military enlistment.

Georgia Equality is celebrating a legislative win with the passage of an LGBTQ Inclusive Nondiscrimination Ordinance in Tucker, which provides critical protections to LGBTQ people and other marginalized groups.

Voices for Georgia’s Children announced Missy Dungan, Delmont Early, Kimberly Hensarling, Elizabeth Higgins, and Belisa Urbina as new board members.

Atlanta Pride Committee board of directors named Chris McCain as new executive director.

Atlanta Children’s Shelter board of directors welcomed Cameron Turner as their new executive director.

Center for the Visually Impaired appointed Nina Myers Johnson, Cynthia Mokotoff, and David Price to the board of directors.

This month, GCN celebrates the three-year faculty anniversary of Fee Freeman, who leads Nonprofit University's Certificate of Digital Fundraising.
