Insights and Resources

Partners for HOME has launched a new website to provide stakeholders with access to information on homeless response in Atlanta.  

Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies, in collaboration with Prevent Child Abuse Georgia and the Georgia Dept. of Public Health, have launched Help Me Grow Georgia, a free, confidential online portal connecting families and providers to essential resources and provider referrals for children up to 8 years old.

Grantmakers

The Home Depot Foundation pledged over $6 million for skilled trades training and formed strategic partnerships to address the nearly 400,000 job openings in construction. In addition, the Foundation has pledged up to $500,000 to aid the survivors of the wildfires in Maui.

The Arby’s Foundation is partnering with comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish to donate $1 million nationwide to alleviate student lunch debt.

Nonprofits

The Women Build Committee of Habitat for Humanity – North Central Georgia raised $2,000 through their Women Build Cooking Class Fundraiser, which drew 45 attendees.

Kate’s Club received the U.S. Surgeon General’s Medallion at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. Surgeon General and the fourth highest honor of the U.S. Public Health Service.

Partners for HOME was allocated $4 million by the Atlanta City Council to launch the first phase of the Rapid Housing initiative, providing swift housing and support services to unhoused individuals.

Next Generation Men & Women received a $725,000 grant that will drive the development of their Alumni Engagement and Talent Development Pipeline Program and offer crucial salary support for teachers and mentors in their college and career readiness program.

Open Hand delivered its 35 millionth meal with help from Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, coinciding with its 35th anniversary celebration.

The Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy received a $526,000 donation from The Cathy D. Perry Trust, which will be utilized for trail rebuilding, rerouting, and repairs in the Chattahoochee River recreation area.

100 Black Men of Atlanta will enhance and expand their Financial Literacy program with a grant from Bank of America.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta was recently awarded a $25,000 grant by Sky Ranch Foundation.

St. Vincent de Paul Georgia and HOPE Atlanta announced a strategic partnership aimed at combating food insecurity and hunger in the lives of individuals and families.

GEEARS received a $3 million gift from philanthropist Mackenzie Scott.

Apparo Community Impact Project volunteers helped Bearings Bike Works make business process improvements expected to result in a 20 percent increase in operating efficiencies, reduced staff stress, expanded bandwidth, and increased workplace happiness.

People

StreetWise Georgia added four new staffers to their team: Gail Ballentine, Financial Administrator; Dawn Kemp, Volunteer Coordinator; Linda Moore, Client Services Coordinator; and Dominique Tedder, Administrative Liaison.

Satilla Riverkeeper welcomed Shannon Gregory as their newest Riverkeeper.

Chattahoochee Riverkeeper named Jason Ulseth as Executive Director. 

St. Vincent de Paul Georgia announced the appointment of Bea Perdue as Senior Director of Philanthropy.

Rainbow Village appointed Joy Holmes as the new Chief Development Officer.

Georgia CORE named Sonia Bell as the new Vice President and welcomed new board members Jorge Cortes, James Hamrick, Jamie Hodgson, Amelia Zelnak, Matt Mumber, Charles Nash, and Stephanie Smith Reyes.

GCN is celebrating the four-year work anniversary of Nonprofit University Faculty Member Sonya Milner, helping lead our Certificate of Major Gifts Fundraising.
