Grantmakers

The Robert W. Woodruff Foundation joined with the Joseph B. Whitehead Foundation to dedicate $100 million to an affordable housing initiative put together by Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta.

The Home Depot Foundation increased its pledge to $400,000 to support communities impacted by severe weather across the Southeast and Midwest through the efforts of ToolBank, Inspiritus, and other nonprofits, and committed $2.5 million to Meals on Wheels to support the expansion of their Helping Homebound Heroes program.

Nonprofits

The King Center hosted the family of Martin Luther King, Jr. for the unveiling of the Coretta Scott King Peace and Meditation Garden, honoring and celebrating the memory of the late Civil Rights leader.

At its 25th annual Galaxy of Stars luncheon, Tommy Nobis Center raised a record $300,000 to support programs and services for people with disabilities.

HomeAid Atlanta joined Breakthru House to celebrate the groundbreaking of two new homes that will expand its capacity to serve women overcoming substance abuse.

As of May 1, Jerusalem House is now known as Status: Home.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta raised over $240,000 at their Annual Fashion Play event, held at the Atlanta History Center, which drew nearly 300 attendees.

Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta raised over $350,000 during their 10th annual Second Century Luncheon.

People

Ferst Readers welcomed new board officers Chaundra Luckett, Lauri Strauss, Michelle Valteau, Susannah Cameron Balish, and Vicki Cansler.

North Fulton Community Charities announced Michelle Burton as Director of Finance and Jeff Rice as Director of Operational Excellence.

The Robert W. Woodruff Foundation appointed Joseph A. Arnold to the board of trustees.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta has selected W. Paul Bowers to join the board of trustees.

The Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation announced Keeva Kase as President and CEO.

Pets are Loving Support has named Katherine Cummings Executive Director and welcomed new board member Hannah Jarrells.
