Grantmakers

The Home Depot Foundation awarded Atlanta Habitat for Humanity $1 million to build 10 homes in the next two years.

Nonprofits

Covenant House Georgia raised $1.1 million for youth homelessness through their annual Sleep Out: Executive Edition, welcoming a group of executives from major companies, including Cox Enterprises, to spend the night on campus to raise awareness and funds.

Georgia Audubon was gifted a grant from the Richard King Mellon Foundation to support the Plants for Birds Program – increasing the public's understanding of how crucial bird-friendly native plants are and how to take action – as well as enhancing the monitoring of invasive plant species across the state.

Tommy Nobis Center is now in the process of relocating their headquarters to a newly-purchased property in Cobb County at 240 Interstate N. Parkway.

Food Well Alliance has been working with Westside Future Fund to welcome mission-aligned partners to their renovated, shared office space at 970 Jefferson St., which is now home to 19 nonprofits and local enterprises and offers access to training, technology, storage, and event space.

Habitat for Humanity – North Central Georgia raised over $10,000 at their recent Celebrity Chef Dinner, doubling their fundraising goal thanks to the Women Build donors group, which hosted the event, as well as guest Chef Tracey Bloom and a sold-out crowd.

▼ Georgians for a Healthy Future recently hosted Health Care Unscrambled 2023, their 13th annual legislative breakfast event, which brought together 200 guests to hear from an experienced panel of state legislators about the health care and public health issues they will tackle during this year’s legislative session.

CHRIS 180 has been awarded a four-year grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to develop a Certified Community Behavioral Health Center. CHRIS 180 was one of five recipients in Georgia, and the only private provider named.

People

Cobb Community Foundation welcomed four new members to their board of directors: Carole Cox, Darion Dunn, Cheryl Richardson, and Ray Thomas.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta President and CEO Kwame Johnson has been named to the 2023 Georgia Titan 100, honoring the state's top 100 Chief Executive Officers and C-level executives for exemplary leadership, insight, and enthusiasm in their field.

Second Helpings Atlanta announced its new board leaders: Dan Sterling, Jeff Handler, Bob Gallagher, Evie Sacks, Lisa Boren Sivy, Anne Beckwith, Azizi Williams, Bill Plybon, Rich van Nostrand, and Gloria Kantor.

CHRIS 180 welcomed new team members Matthew Mitchell, Nicole Crowder, Karimah McFarlane, and Erika Montag.

Goodwill of North Georgia announced their board for the fiscal year 2023, including Alicen Blair, Michelle Jackson, Winnifer Thomas-Cox, Dr. Kofi Smith, Dr. DeRetta Cole Rhodes, Edward Ferguson, Ellen Stern, and Kirk Halpern.

Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta welcomed 17 new leaders to their board of directors: W. Imara Canady, Toccara Arnold Alam, Reina Jones, Yvonne Whitaker, Geneva Hall-Shelton, Laura Moody, Greta Wilson, Jerry Travers, Judy Graham-Weaver, Lara Wagner, Catherine Stanberg, Michele Blondheim, Kat Reynolds, Shawan Allen, Erin Goodier, Brittany Church, and Jasmine Cockfield.

Dunwoody Nature Center welcomed new board members Maria Harvey, Brian Stalzer, and Pippin Lynn.

Agape Youth & Family Center welcomed new board members Allyson Maske, Suja Katarya, Millar Freeman, Elaine McCoy, and Katherine Trainor.

Rainbow Village announced three new board members: Deon Tucker, Susie Collat, and Deborah Latham.

Tommy Nobis Center welcomed Debbie Pike and Randy Hain to their board of directors.
