Tommy Nobis Center launched The Academy, a six-month Accelerated Vocational Training Program that equips young adults with disabilities with education, training, and life skills needed for employment. Learn more.

Grantmakers

▼ South Arts announced more than $1,000,000 in funding to organizations and artists across the South through three grant programs: Presentation Grants, Jazz Road Creative Residency Grants, and In These Mountains.

Gas South donated $327,000 to YMCA of Metro Atlanta to fund the expansion of the Adaptive Swim Equity Health Program.

Nonprofits

The Zeist Foundation awarded commemorative grants to 10 nonprofits including Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Georgia Appleseed, Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students, Habitat for Humanity Atlanta, and Wylde Center.

North Fulton Charities received a $50,000 gift from Enterprise Holdings, as well as 200 backpacks that employees filled with essential supplies for distribution in the community.

CHRIS 180 was awarded $300,000 as one of six nonprofits in Georgia chosen for the UnitedHealthcare Empowering Health program grant, and was also chosen as a beneficiary of the 2023 Beloved Benefit event.

Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership received a $5 million grant to provide capital and capacity-building support for underrepresented developers and to generate affordable housing across Georgia.

Urban League of Greater Atlanta received $3 million aimed at supporting minority-owned businesses in high-growth industries.

▼ During the StreetWise Backpack and School Clothes event, more than 360 students from Gwinnett County were given school supplies and clothing. Additionally, StreetWise has started providing food and supplies every other Thursday night for families who cannot access those resources during the day.

Apparo launched an Atlanta-based Community Impact Project where skilled volunteers will partner with the nonprofit Raksha, Inc. to assess their overall programming with the aim to amplify their mission and help them better plan for the future.

CaringWorks received $125,000 from the William Josef Foundation, serving as a cornerstone for their 2023 Bolster the Bridge capital campaign drive.

People

CHRIS 180 welcomed Dr. Lisa Taylor as the new Director of the Institute for Spiritual Health.

Georgia Court Appointed Special Advocates elected Lindsay Dycus, Ericka McClam, and Jessica Merriman to their board.

STAR of Coastal Georgia named Rick Townsend as Executive Director.

The Georgia Native Plant Society announced Nikki Belmonte as Executive Director.

Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy welcomed Brittany Jones as Executive Director.

Park Pride named Judy Adler, Eden Godbee, Vaughn Marshall, Natali Mayo, Stacy Patton, and Reynolds Salerno to the board of directors.

Second Helpings welcomed Paul Clements as its new Executive Director.
