Grantmakers

The Home Depot Foundation is committing up to $200,000 in immediate disaster relief and long-term recovery support for communities across the South suffering from tornado strikes. In addition, the Foundation announced that it will invest $200,000 in trade school scholarships for women in celebration of Women in Construction Week in March.

Nonprofits

Atlanta BeltLine broke ground on a new 1.2-mile section of the Southside Trail, which will connect the Glenwood Park and Grant Park neighborhoods.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta was honored with a Top Workplaces 2023 designation from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, based on employee survey results covering 15 cultural drivers.

United Way of Atlanta and Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta will receive a portion of The Coca-Cola Company’s recently-announced $1.7 million investment in organizations that serve Atlanta youth.

▼ At their 13th annual Sweep the Hooch event, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and its community partners led nearly 1,400 volunteers in clean-up efforts across 60 sites, removing 31 tons of trash from Georgia’s waterways.

As part of their 30th anniversary celebration, Camp Twin Lakes announced a $25 million campus expansion, to adjoin their original space in Rutledge.

HomeAid Atlanta completed two major Care Days in March, bringing together over 60 volunteers and providing $16,000 in facilities services for two organizations serving people experiencing homelessness in Metro Atlanta.

Wholesome Wave Georgia welcomed Lawton Bloom to their board, and appointed new executive committee officers James Irungu, Sarah Pierre, Ashley Smith, and David Yankey.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta named Brandon Jackson and Sarah Lopez as its Big Brother and Big Sister of the Year, respectively.

Trees Atlanta welcomed new Executive Director Greg Levine on April 1.

Catholic Charities Atlanta welcomed Kylie Gainey as their new Immigration Legal Services Director and Nicole Grice as their new Director of Services.

GCN celebrated two Nonprofit University (NU) faculty anniversaries in April: Amanda Bisgaard, marking 3 years at NU; and Kristin Hemingway, marking 4 years at NU. Bisgaard is currently leading the Certificate of Volunteer Management, and Hemingway will be part of the team facilitating the Certificate of Supervision and Management course in September.
