Individual trauma ... has lasting adverse effects on the person’s ability to function and on one’s physical, social, emotional, or spiritual well-being. – CHRIS 180
This foundational course from CHRIS 180 will provide you with an understanding of how trauma impacts children, families, adults, caregivers, and providers, including the implications of complex trauma exposure, how to respond to individuals who have experienced trauma, the lifelong impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and the impact of vicarious trauma.
Participants will also learn how to promote a trauma-informed system through Trauma STARs (Safety, Trustworthiness, Awareness, Relationship Driven) model of integration. This engaging training is interactive and includes lecture, video, and group activities.
Trauma STARs is a component of the CHRIS Training Institute, which offers three primary courses for individuals, organizations, and communities: Trauma STARs, Trauma Assessment, and Trauma Toolbox. Through the Training Institute, CHRIS 180 aims to help people heal and develop the skills they need to navigate life and contribute to their community.
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Define and understand trauma and traumatic stress.
- Describe the effects of complex trauma on learning, behavior, and development.
- Recognize how you can support others in building their resilience and social-emotional development.
