ACCT 240 | Audits & the Audit Committee

The word “audit” often produces panic, fear, and uncertainty. Yet audits are simply a factor in providing proper financial management oversight of an organization.  The audit committee serves as a liaison to the organization’s independent external auditor and is a conduit to the internal control structure that mitigates risks such as error and fraud .  This course will help you to learn just what audits are and how audits can help you improve your operations and better serve your mission.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Define what an audit is.
  • Determine whether your organization needs an audit.
  • Follow best practices for a successful audit, including choosing an auditor, understanding the Auditor's Report, and working with your board audit committee.
