Grantmakers

South Arts awarded $30,000 grants to three Southern arts organizations for their inaugural In These Mountains program, supporting the folk arts and traditional culture of Central Appalachia.

Nonprofits

Goodwill of North Georgia received a $300,000 grant from The Coca-Cola Foundation to continue providing free workforce training for women in non-traditional fields, helping sustain programs funded by store profits.

▼ North Fulton Community Charities commemorated 40 years of service at their A Night in Tuscany Gala, welcoming nearly 200 guests in support of their services relieving hunger and homelessness.

KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools surpassed its goal during its Night of Impact fundraiser across Atlanta, raising over $341,000 to benefit scholars, schools, and programs while boosting awareness.

Partners for HOME, Atlanta's key homelessness addressing partner, will receive a $3 million donation from the Atlanta City Council to construct 500 housing units by the end of 2025.

▼ Volunteers from HomeAid Atlanta and their partners provided over $11,000 in work and donated supplies to Friendship Towers through a recent Care Day event, and renovated 14 apartments at PUSH Ministry during another Care Day.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta raised over $32,000 through its 2024 Iconic Mentor Auction, pushing the annual event’s fundraising total past $250,000 since its start in 2021.

Fox Theatre launched the expansion of its Fox Gives community partnership program with a $500,000 grant to Hart Community Theatre and the announcement that it will increase its support for theater restoration and youth arts opportunities by more than double.

The Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence received $800,000 as part of a community funding project secured by Congressman Hank Johnson, to be used for housing initiatives for domestic violence survivors in DeKalb County.

Be THE Voice reports that their work in 28 Fulton County schools has helped decrease bullying incidents by 95% in participating elementary schools, 77% in middle schools, and 91% in high schools. 

Tommy Nobis Center received a $2 million grant from MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving as part of the foundation’s Open Call program.

A new Apparo Community Impact Project has paired a skilled volunteer team from Primerica and IIBA with Rainbow Village to produce a robust data management plan in support of the nonprofit’s services for families experiencing homelessness.

Kwame Johnson, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, has been named a member of this year’s Georgia Titan 100.

Chastain Park Conservancy appointed Rosa McHugh as Executive Director.

North Fulton Community Charities hired John Doolen as Director of Finance and Administration and promoted Patrick Dinsmore to Director of Facilities.

Habitat for Humanity International named Charlita Stephens-Walker as VP, Corporate Partnerships.

Voices for Georgia’s Children selected Judy Fitzgerald as Executive Director.

Bobby Dodd Institute welcomed Debbyn Milligan as Chief Operating Officer.

Atlanta Habitat for Humanity announced the appointment of Andy Konieczka to its board of directors.

The Empty Stocking Fund announced Barbara Blalock as their new Executive Director.
