GCN member organizations continue to make an incredible impact in Georgia and beyond.

From planting trees around Atlanta, helping to build new public health facilities in Haiti, and winning grants to extend their impact, GCN members have had a busy spring.  Check out some of the highlights below!

The Healthcare Georgia Foundation announced it would give grants totaling nearly $1.2 million to thirty organizations and programs working to improve the health and care of Georgians.  Among the grantees are GCN members: Community Evaluations Solutions and HealthMPowers.

The CDC Foundation supported an effort to build two new public health buildings in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, assisting the country's recovery from the 2010 earthquake.

Trees Atlanta pledged to plant 2,273 new trees in honor of the number of individual pledges to WABE's spring fundraising drive on April 25.

The Southern Center for Human Rights received a $1 million gift from entrepreneur James Kwak to establish a fellowship for young public interest lawyers to work at SCHR.

The Walmart Foundation provided a $50,000 grant to TurningPoint Women's Healthcare for its financial assistance program and educational events including providing services to uninsured and under-insured women with breast cancer.

GCN partner WXIA 11Alive, honored 11 outstanding local volunteers with their Community Service Awards.  Among the winners are staffers at several GCN organizations, including: Kate Atwood for Kate's Club; Virginia Hitson for The Salvation Army; Dorothy H. Jordan for Camp Sunshine; Gary Lee for Project GRAD Atlanta; and Brian A. Lucas for the Shepherd Center.

Spelman College Museum of Art Director Dr. Andrew Barnwell Brownlee was awarded the 2013 David C. Driskell Prize by the High Museum of Art for establishing the museum as a national destination focusing on work by and about women of the African Diaspora.

Nine GCN partners were named by Fortune as the World's Most Admired Companies in 2013: #4 Coca-Cola, #6 IBM, #7 Southwest Airlines, #13 American Express, #30 UPS, #38 Wells Fargo, #44 Accenture, #45 The Home Depot and #49 Cisco.
