GCN Teams with Newell Rubbermaid to Spur Partnerships among Atlanta Education Nonprofits
ATLANTA — November 15, 2010 — Twenty-one education-focused nonprofit organizations in Atlanta are coming together for a new program designed to foster collaborations, thanks to a major investment by Newell Rubbermaid in collaboration with the Georgia Center for Nonprofits.
Investing in Community: Partnerships for Impact will deliver a series of three learning and development events to a select group of nonprofit leaders, culminating in an event which focuses on the celebration and sharing of best practices. Integral to the program, Newell and GCN are facilitating the sharing of thought leadership and engaging peer exchange around the concepts of leveraging collaboration within informal, but linked systems.
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Newell to create and deliver the Atlanta program, said GCN President and CEO Karen Beavor. “Bringing together this outstanding group of nonprofit education leaders enables building partnerships that will strengthen education opportunities across the Atlanta community. Our goal is to empower participants by providing them with methods and tools to improve collaboration, so they can leverage these connections to maximize their impact.”
“Key to the progression of a child from growing up to contribute to their community is having access to and positive experiences with educational and support organizations,” explains Jackie Parker, Newell VP of Inclusion and Diversity and Corporate Philanthropy. “Partnerships for Impact is an expansion of our Investing in Community initiative focused on supporting these vital networks by empowering nonprofits across the arc of education—from early childhood education to professional skill development.”
